Everyone wants to have clear skin that is youthful looking, healthy and smooth. The good news is that you don’t have to go out and buy expensive creams, lotions or cleansers.
There are plenty of things that you can incorporate into your daily routine in order to have healthy skin that is free of acne breakouts, rashes and other unsightly conditions.
Here are ten of the best tips to follow in order to have clear, healthy skin:
When you take care of yourself on the inside, your skin will thank you by giving you a healthy glow. Your hair will shine, your eyes will sparkle and your skin will be soft, supple and clear of blemishes. Be sure to eat a variety of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, nuts, seeds, and whole grains. Don’t forget about the Omega 3’s: tuna, salmon, almonds, sunflower seeds, olive oil, and pumpkin seeds.
Exercise has many great benefits, and sweating is one of them. When you sweat, your pores open up and oil is released. As long as you wash your face immediately after exercising, all of that oil will get washed away, leaving your skin healthy and clear. Another benefit to exercise is that the circulation of white blood cells is increased. These cells are able to travel to where your acne is and will help heal it quicker.
This goes hand-in-hand with diet and exercise. Water helps flush out all of the toxins and impurities, and will keep your skin hydrated. Most experts recommend at least six glasses a day. When your skin is healthy, it can fight off blemishes, oil and impurities that can cause acne to develop. Try putting in slices of fruit for a change of taste. Filtered water is best, but tap water will do just fine if that’s all you have access to.
Get Enough Sleep
Sleep is your body’s time to re-energize itself and repair/restore cells and organs. When you have a restful sleep, your body has a much better chance of doing these things to its full potential. You will wake up feeling refreshed, and ready to take on the day. Your skin will thank you by appearing younger looking, wrinkle-free and blemish-free.
Consider stress an enemy to your skin. It causes all kinds of nasty conditions, including acne and rosacea. If you are prone to breaking out, then you may want to consider your stress levels. If your job, finances or relationship is causing you to stress out, it might be time to look for a change. Stress can also lead to other illnesses such as depression and anxiety.
Proper Skin Care
You don’t have to go out and purchase expensive creams and lotions, but you should have a gentle cleanser and moisturizer that you use every day. Use every morning and every evening for best results. You want to make sure to wash your face at night to get rid of everything that your skin has been exposed to throughout the day, like pollution, smoke, dust and other impurities.
Minimize the Makeup
Makeup can clog pores and produce oily buildups; leaving it on your skin overnight is never a good idea, and should be washed off every evening before going to bed. Try to minimize the amount of makeup you apply to your face, or find brands that are made with natural ingredients.
Minimize Sun Exposure
Too much sun can cause premature wrinkles, dry out your skin, and may cause skin cancer over the long term. The same can be said for tanning salons, as studies have shown that they are just as harmful as the UV rays from the sun. That doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a bit of sun every day – but protect your skin by wearing sufficient sun block, and wash it off at the end of the day to prevent oil buildups and blocking from occurring.
Aside from causing lung cancer, smoking causes premature aging, and yellowing of the skin and teeth. The tobacco that hangs in the air will dry out your skin, while the smoke that you inhale will constrict the flow of blood to your blood vessels, which in turn restricts the amount of essential nutrients that your skin receives. There have been enough studies and warnings to warrant never starting, or quitting for good.
Too much drinking also causes premature aging, along with a host of other problems. It will make you dehydrated (hence the hangover the next morning) and your skin will lose that healthy glow that you’ve been working so hard to attain.
Alcohol will also lessen your body’s defenses to fight disease and infection. You will feel awful and you’ll look even worse. One or two drinks on occasion is fine, but your skin will suffer if you drink on a regular basis.
